When I was in high school Cactus - Rusty Day/vocals, Jim McCarty/guitar, Tim Bogert/bass and Carmine Appice/drums - was one of my favorite bands. A lot of that had to do with my total appreciation of Appice's heavy handed grooves and fills, along with the epic jams they would do in practically every song.
I saw the band once (1970?) at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, sharing the bill with Toe Fat and the great Ten Years After. My teenage mind was completely blown. So whenever I want to mentally revisit that era, and more specifically that phenomenal live performance, I play this song, Big Mama Boogie (from their second album, "One Way Or Another") to get me rockin'.
I'd prefer it if you listened to the entire song, to get it all in context, even though 'the good part' starts around 3:50...
